I'm excited to share with you a new initiative we are piloting here at Mann. Next Fall, all Fifth grade students will be assigned a Microsoft Surface Go to use throughout the year. This 1:1 computer ratio will revolutionize how we use technology in our classrooms, and it will open the door to many new teaching and learning opportunities. In preparation for this launch, we have been selected as one of four elementary schools to pilot the use of the devices early. That means that for the rest of this school year, each of our Fifth graders has been assigned their own Microsoft Surface Go. Our Fifth graders began using their devices earlier this week, and the excitement was palpable. This added opportunity is due in large part to the extra time our Fifth grade teachers are putting in behind-the-scenes at district meetings as part of the pilot process.
