Hello parents of 3rd 4th and 5th graders!

I wanted to share some information on how I run the choir that is starting after school next Thursday through the PTSA. WE NEED MORE KIDS!

The choir sings popular and current music. I choose some songs and the kids get choices for which songs they would like to sing. I spend a lot of time filtering the music before presenting it in class to make sure it is appropriate.

I also use instruments and have kids add them to the songs when it is needed. The students get a full musical experience through singing and playing and being a part of a team!

The other thing that I do with choir is choose student leaders to help create actions to the songs and lead the choir in those actions. I want the songs to be fun and the experience to be student driven so they have a good feeling about their choice to be in choir.

There will be performance opportunities and I am trying to get an assembly that will just be for the choir to sing in front of the school. This may sound scary, but when I’ve done this before it really energizes the school and kids feel very satisfied with the praise they get from their peers.

I hope you will encourage your child to experience choir and give it a try! If we all take some steps forward into rebuilding a strong musical tradition here at Mann, the kids will be a part of that legacy.

Thank you and please encourage your child to sign up for choir. Choir will meet after school on Thursdays from 310-4:00 PM.

Click HERE to sign up. If that sign up doesn’t work, have your child come to choir and I will make sure they are signed up!
