Mad Science: Fantastic Physics (1-5)

Fantastic Physics is an hour-long, 8-week online course where we will investigate the science of how things work. We’ll explore how forces – the push and pulls of the universe – affect everything from how planes fly, buildings that reach towering heights and bridges that span great distances. We’ll investigate the power of water, air pressure and itty-bitty electrons. Using common household items along with our pre-packaged specialty items delivered to your home, kids will be able to perform their own follow-along experiments and hands-on activities.

This is a fun enrichment class to introduce Spanish to your children at a young age. Research suggests that the younger children are introduced to a language, the more easily they can learn and the more likely they are to obtain fluency through their studies. Art, music, games, and skits guide our curriculum for each class. We utilize dynamic and creative ways to share our native language with the children and instill a love for language and learning. Note: Rainy Day Dinner Club will be offered on both Tuesday and Wednesday each week but the 2 classes will make the same meal, so you only need to sign up for one. Dinner club been divided into 2 sessions with new meals every week; Winter Comfort Food (Jan-Feb for 7 weeks) and March in Spring (March for 5 weeks)
Once a week, parents and kids will work together to make a delicious dish that feeds a family of 4-6! Students will join our teacher in walking through and completing our easy steps-by-step meals! Our class is hands-on, active, and offers a uniquely engaging virtual experience! Students will be working with knives and will be doing some stove-top cooking or oven-baking during parts of class, so adult support is needed. Please note that throughout the week all classes are being taught the same meals. **Note: REGISTRATION IS PRICED PER FAMILY, so siblings can work together on the meal! Prerequisites:
INGREDIENTS: For the safety of our staff and your family, all ingredients will need to be purchased and prepped by parents before each class. We will send out detailed emails a week prior to each class, highlighting lesson details and providing a shopping list, parental prep guide, and all class materials needed! WHAT DOES PARENT SUPPORT LOOK LIKE? -Shopping for needed ingredients and gathering tools before class. -Doing some food prep like cooking meats, rice, or pasta. -Also, washing and halving produce, so that it is safer to cut. -During class, helping monitor knife skills and safety, and helping cook what is being added or cooked on the stove during the meal. REQUIREMENTS: -Lessons are designed for kids to cook with their parents or another adult. Use of knives, kitchen tools, stoves, ovens, or other sharp or hot items should always be closely supervised. -Students will need internet access and have the ability to be seen and heard during the ZOOM Class. (laptop or smart phone could work) -Stove, oven, and standard cooking pots and utensils.

ZOOM NOTES: -Class will be held via ZOOM so you can interact with your instructors, ask questions, and learn together. -We follow the same ZOOM meeting guidelines as the Seattle Public School to ensure the safety of our students. -Students will need an authenticated ZOOM account. -Some food prep will be needed as well as some adult supervision during class. -ZOOM details will be provided upon confirmation. As always, our first lesson is making a large side salad so that we can practice our knife skills and learn all our Dinner Club expectations.

Calling all Minecrafters! Building Minecraft mods is a great way to learn programming, harness creativity, and enhance problem-solving skills while making your favorite game even better. Each camper will have their own Minecraft server where they can customize the game with their own world maps and features. Students will be coding mods to create new items, environments, non-playable characters, game modes, and more! The students will create your Roblox games in this class! They acquire the basics of programming through making and playing Roblox. We use Lua to make interactive objects. They will also learn the foundational elements of creating fun experiences. The instructor of this class will be a former game developer from SEGA and Nintendo with over 25 years of experience. We will cover how to find solutions while making games. After completing the class, students will be able to start making their games with their new ideas in the world of Roblox. Have some interest in creating 3D art? This workshop is for those of you who want to start making 3D animations. The students will learn the basics of 3D art that include 3D character modeling, rigging, and animation. We will use Blender 2.8: the free 3D creation suite to support your ideas come true.
