Volunteer Opportunity • Winter Quarter • Grades K–3
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We’re reaching out to see if anyone would like to volunteer to lead after-school math enrichment for grades K–3 this coming Winter Quarter. Our Math Club currently runs enrichment sessions for grades 4–5 on Tuesdays, 4:00–4:45 PM, and we would love to expand this opportunity to our younger students.
The new K–3 sessions could take place any weekday (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday) — whichever works best for the volunteer(s). We recommend 4:00–4:45 PM for consistency with Grades 4–5, but that’s flexible.
We can provide materials and guidance to help run the sessions, but the lesson design and implementation would be led by the volunteer(s). You won’t be on your own — school chaperones will be present, and you’re welcome to co-lead with another parent or team up with others who are interested.
We’re also looking for a chaperone and a parent helper for the Grades 4–5 enrichment sessions to support our high school volunteers who lead the activities. In addition, we’ll need a chaperone for the new K–3 group once it’s formed.
Please note that volunteers and chaperones cannot be paid, so the enrichment fee will only cover materials, and any remaining funds will go toward Math Club activities. As always, children of volunteers and chaperones participate for free.
If you’d like to learn more, ask questions, or just talk through what it might look like, please email us at math@mannptsa.org and we can set up a quick meeting.
We’d appreciate hearing from anyone interested by Wednesday, November 19th, so we can plan the Winter schedule accordingly.
Thank you for helping us continue to make math fun and inspiring for our youngest learners!
Warm regards,
The Horace Mann Math Club Team
