At Horace Mann Elementary, our staff go above and beyond to support, inspire, and care for our students every day. The Horace Mann PTSA Hospitality Committee is proud to recognize this dedication through monthly staff appreciation events that bring joy, comfort, and community spirit to our school.

These events are a meaningful expression of gratitude, and they are made possible through the involvement of our incredible community of families.

Our Approach to Monthly Appreciation

Each month, our Hospitality Committee creates a themed appreciation experience for staff. These events vary throughout the year and we aim to strike a balance between fun foods, special gifts, and useful supplies, often with a seasonal theme.

Our monthly efforts draw from three key sources:

💛 1. Low-Cost, Community-Supported Events

We create opportunities for families to share their time and talents by baking homemade goodies, preparing dishes, or contributing simple items. These events build connection and allow anyone to participate in meaningful, budget-friendly ways.

🏫 2. Community-Sponsored Donations

Local businesses often partner with us to sponsor coffee, snacks, desserts, or even lunches. These partnerships strengthen our ties to the wider community and help stretch our resources.

🎁 3. Fully Funded Events from the Colt Corral Fund

Some appreciation moments are fully funded through our Colt Corral donations to ensure our staff receive something extra-special. These funds help us provide thoughtful, well-deserved gestures that celebrate staff in big ways.

By blending these three sources, we ensure all events—big or small—are meaningful, sustainable, and accessible for volunteers.

We are always excited to welcome new volunteers! Whether you enjoy planning events, cooking or baking, shopping for supplies, decorating, or simply delivering a dish once in a while, there's a place for your participation.

Ways You Can Contribute

Plan or brainstorm monthly themes
Donate homemade treats or snacks
Shop for event supplies (reimbursements available!)
Help with setup or cleanup
Transport items to staff lounges
Participate once, occasionally, or throughout the year—whatever works for you!

Flexible Opportunities for Busy Families

We know your time is valuable. That's why we offer volunteer options that fit any schedule:

Drop off a treat in the morning (5–10 minutes)
Help set up a table (20–30 minutes)
Volunteer at one event a year or many
Contribute items even if you can't attend in person
Choose a month when your schedule is more flexible and plan a fun event!
